It’s often said that fashion is a reflection of personality, a form of silent expression. Indeed, who hasn’t chosen an outfit to mark an important moment or reflect a particular mood? Who hasn’t let a garment speak for them? Yet the facts are clear: our clothes implicitly represent who we are, a projection of our identity, our tastes and sometimes our aspirations. Whether it’s oversized jackets, casual hoodies, daring cargo pants, minimalist sneakers or original hats, each piece plays a strategic role in the balance of our outfit.
However, fashions don’t last forever; they appear, take hold and then fade away over time, often in the wake of new trends. This has long been the case with landmark styles such as grunge, which embodied the rebellion of the ’90s before losing its breath to the rise of cleaner, sleeker styles of the 2000s, or the emo wave, a symbol of raw emotion and musical subculture, which withered as society embraced more diverse expressions of sensibility and aesthetics. Similarly, the bohemian chic style, once ubiquitous at festivals and on the streets, has seen its influence diminish as other, more minimalist or streetwear trends have taken over.
Fashion is constantly evolving, but certain trends remain unchanged.
